Magnet links are different from torrent files. A torrent file is a small file that contains all the necessary information to download a larger file. A magnet link is instead just a link that enable the download of a torrent file with the usage of a torrent client. When you are using magnet links, you are still donwloading torrents files. Just in a more userfriendly way.

To use magnet links (also known as magnet URIs) you only need to have a bittorrent client that supports them. The great majority of the popular torrent clients support magnet links already. You don't need to do anything else than open the link.

Many websites provide only the torrent file, although is very easy to create the magnet link yourself a generator can be a quicker way for the wast majority of the users.

A torrent p2p network is composed of nodes. Each node acts as a tracker. Torrent clients come installed with a number of known tracker nodes (DHT). Generally you don't need to add trackers to a magnet link.It may be usefull to include trackers when the resource identified by the hash is not very popular.
